Refuting a Chinese Nationalist’ Discrimination against Native Language

林子隩 Thanks for keeping sharing ideas with me~ This is my last reply.

It’s evident that you failed to put forward more compelling arguments that support WHY Taiwanese languages should NOT be respected as much as Mandarin.

Here are the reasons.

First, you just assumed me to be one of pan-green supporters and kept talking some trivial aspects of Taiwanese Independence, which I NEVER mentioned because it’s beyond our scope of discourse. What I concern is Taiwanese languages, not the ones conforming to Chinese nationalists’ definitions and thus belittled by authorities. Remember what initiated this debate? It was just a post that urged people to pay more attention on native language education. It didn’t imply any negative impact on Mandarin and Chinese culture. They are compatible. However, you did claim the value of Formosan language at first but later revealed arrogant attitude toward native languages — you’re just simply denying any effort done by people, giving no constructive advice at all.

Besides, both your Chinese and English proficiency are SO insufficient that you’re unable to rebuke me back in proper language, not to mention in Taiwanese. So you ended up debating over which currency to use, which has little to do with nationality. I can give you two counterexamples: European use EUR without establishing a new country. Hong Kongers use HKD without independence from China.

When it comes to cross-strait war, you argued as if Taiwanese were cowards. As a matter of fact, nobody anticipates a war. And chances are that China is to open fire anytime, whether Taiwan declares independence or not. So the point is WE are standing at the edge of war because of a sovereignty full of animosities toward us, who is considered a “renegade province." What are WE supposed to response? Kowtowing? If that’s your answer, then you’re defeated not by enemy, but your own defeatism. And Chiang Kai-Shek would be very disappointed at you guys if he were still alive. I’ve got carried away… but I strongly recommend you reconsider about what “specific" China do your swear allegiance to? Or you would rather be a traitor?

Last but not least, (sorry to be so rhetorical like this that you might finally give up Google translation) I always regard you as a Taiwan citizen, yet you behave in sort of a subject under monarch. You blow a fuse when sb says something harmful to the nation, while turning a deaf ear to your unrighteousness Lord — the emperor.

So just give yourself a break and have a cup of tea. Don’t miss me hahaha…
